If you run into any issue while creating a sequence, feel free to reach out using the chat.

A sequence defines what messages are sent to each prospect, including the first DM and any follow-ups if they don’t reply.

✉️ Write your messages

A sequence is made of one or more messages:

  • the initial cold DM

  • optional follow-ups

The goal is to start a conversation, not to write a long pitch. You’ll find 10 ready-to-use Instagram DM templates in this article.

{} Personalize DMs with custom variables

Each message can be personalized using custom variables.
This helps make each DM feel more personal and natural.

You can use :

  • First name and Last name → automatically extracted from the profile when available using AI

  • Name → full name specified by the user on Instagram

  • Username → the instagram @username

  • Spintax → lets Wave randomly pick between multiple variations (example :

    {{Hey|Hello|Hi}})

  • Icebreaker → a personalized sentence for each user, defined at the audience level

💬 Add follow-ups (optional)

Follow-ups are messages sent if there is no reply after a specific delay. This is optional.

👉 What’s next

Once your sequence is ready, you can move on to launching your campaign and start sending DMs.

If anything is unclear, feel free to ask in the chat.
